This beautifully hand-sculpted and hand-painted alter is an exclusive collaboration between our founder Jen and talented Skye-based maker Catriona Archibald.

Catriona makes homewares and jewellery from her studio in Waternish on the island and uses a groggy, textured stoneware clay to create these wall ornaments ready for hanging in your home for the season.

In Scottish Gaelic culture, rowan berries are symbolic, especially at Christmas when traditionally a rowan branch was burned to cleanse the air of negativity in the build up to the festivities. 

The alters come with a length of soft green velvet ribbon attached so they're ready for hanging in your home, and you can also purchase a set of three mini stoneware bothies to create a sweet village scene in your Christmas alter. 

As every alter is handmade, no two will look exactly the same which only adds to their unique charm.
